Originally from Victoria, BC, James Taylor is a Calgary-based guitarist and music teacher. James graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Writing & Production. He has several years of teaching and gigging experience. Over the years, James has taught guitar and ukulele privately, in summer camps and in schools. James has gigged with jazz combos, musical theater pit orchestras and rock bands. Some of James’ favourite genres to play and teach are jazz, rock, indie, classical, pop and folk.
James believes that having a solid foundation of sight-reading, ear training, harmony, and technique, are key to becoming a well-rounded musician. James also believes that music should be enjoyable and strives to foster a love of music for all of his students
